Palladium-catalyzed esterification of aryl halides using aryl formates without the use of external carbon monoxide.
Aryl formates are efficient carbon monoxide sources in palladium-catalyzed esterification of aryl halides. The carbonylation readily proceeds at ambient pressure without the use of external carbon monoxide to afford the corresponding esters in high yields.
متن کاملA palladium-catalyzed synthesis of (hetero)aryl-substituted imidazoles from aryl halides, imines and carbon monoxide.
We describe here a tandem catalytic route to prepare imidazoles in a single operation from aryl iodides, imines and CO. The reaction involves a catalytic carbonylation of aryl halides with imines to form 1,3-dipoles, which undergo spontaneous 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition. Overall, this offers an alternative to coupling reactions to construct the (hetero)aryl-imidazole motif, where variation of the...
متن کاملPalladium- (and nickel-) catalyzed vinylation of aryl halides.
Functionalized styrenes are extremely useful building blocks for organic synthesis and for functional polymers. One of the most general syntheses of styrenes involves the combination of an aryl halide with a vinyl organometallic reagent under catalysis by palladium or nickel complexes. This Feature Article provides the first comprehensive summary of the vinylation methods currently available al...
متن کاملReductive Ullmann Coupling of Aryl Halides by Palladium Nanoparticles Supported on Cellulose, a Recoverable Heterogeneous Catalyst
Palladium nanoparticles supported on cellulose were prepared without using any reducing agent and used as a highly efficient catalyst for the Ullmann reductive coupling of aryl halides in the presence of zinc, in a water-alcohol mixture as solvent in air. The obtained palladium nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), FTIR, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and ICP...
متن کاملRecovery of Palladium from Spent Activated Carbon-Supported Palladium Catalysts
TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center, Chemistry Institute, 41470 Gebze, Kocaeli, Turkey Email: [email protected] Activated carbon-supported palladium catalysts are liable to progressive deactivation even in the absence of any gaseous contaminants during the oxidation of hydrogen under ambient conditions. The high value of palladium coupled with environmental considerations means that n...
